About usLiverpool Wheelchair User Group (LWUG) A group of wheelchair users started meeting together, determined to make a difference LWUG has met regularly since 2004, has developed a Committee, Constitution, has successfully received grant funding during 2006 and is applying for charitable status.
Some of our current LWUG long and short term aims are :We want to work towards further improvements, to the customer care, keeping you in touch better, widen the range of wheelchairs available and much more. We want to improve access to information for wheelchair users. We consider it important that we reflect all different cultures, age groups and lifestyles. We recognise the importance of the Social Model of Disability and that so many of the challenges and barriers faced by disabled people, come from inaccessible transport, houses, public buildings and amenities, as well as an underfunding of the health and social support services. We want to see better access to public buildings, pavements, kerb crossings in Liverpool. We want to promote better access to transport, trains, buses, taxis, ‘Blue Badge’ parking, Motability Schemes.
We welcome your ideas, suggestions, we meet regularly at the Lifehouse, travel expenses are normally covered by LWUG for getting to our meetings.
