A specialist service, funded by the NHS body, the Liverpool Primary Care Trust .  The Wheelchair Assessment Team are now based at the Lifehouse, Brunswick Dock.

Includes assessment and provision of wheelchairs accessories and special seating.

• The service is provided for permanent residents registered with a  Liverpool GP, from the aqe of thirty months upwards.
• Wheelchairs are provided on a long-term loan basis for people with a limited or permanent walking disability.
• People requiring an initial wheelchair assessment must be referred by a General Practitioner,Occupational Therapist, District Nurse, Macmillan Nurse or Physiotherapist.
• Assessments are carried out by a multi-disciplinary team and are by appointment
• If you have specialist needs, you may be referred to the PAWC   formerly-Donald Todd Rehabilitation Centre (Aintree Hospital) by the Liverpool Wheelchair Service.
• Assessments may take place at a clinic in the wheelchair service, or in a home work I or school environment as appropriate.

Assessments and services provided include:

• Manual wheelchairs (Attendant/self propelling)
• Childrens buggies
• Electric powered indoor/outdoor wheelchairs (occupant controlled)
• Pressure care cushions for wheelchair users
•  Voucher Scheme
• Specialist seating systems
• Electric powered indoor wheelchairs

When assessed the equipment needs will be established by both the Client and the Multi-disciplinary team.
