 Taxis

The City of Liverpool has a large licensed fleet of over 1400 Hackney Cabs.

At present, these are nearly all LTI TX designs, 'London Cab', which is required to carry wheelchair ramps, either a fold out design  stowed in the  cabfloor and  an extension to reduce the gradient or channel ramps carried in the boot of the cab.

LWUG and other groups are at present making a case for other designs such as the Peugeot E7 Taxi which can accomodate longer wheelbase chairs, and enable a wheelchair user to travel comfortably with several friends, and even travel facing forwards.

Check  our LWUG News and Events for latest developments.

We have many many  friendly helpful cab drivers in liverpool, but if you find someone unhelpful, unwilling to follow your requests, please take details and pass them onto the Hackney Licensing Office  tel 0151 233 3000 or email or call us and we can forward them for you.
